I Don't Eat Church

Average: 3.5 (4 votes)

My dad goes on business travel a lot, so he has had everything happen to him. Once he was in Italy and he can speak Italian a little bit. He was in a restaurant and he wanted to tell the waitress that he didn't eat cheese, but he got the wrong Italian word and he told the waitress he didn't eat church. So five minutes later the waitress came back with food that had cheese on it and my father got really angry so another waiter had to be brought in that could speak English and he told my father that he had said that he didn't eat church. He was rather embarrassed but he also thought it rather funny. And I had a laugh about it as well.

Lol, this reminds me of a time I was taking a French class. One of my classmates was supposed to say "He is strong" ("Il est fort"), but instead said "Il est port" ("He is door"). We had a good laugh over that slip-up. Amazing how easy it can be to confuse words in any given language, eh?

i went to spain and a brought a spanish english dictionary recently and the only reason i bought it is because of your story
