A few years ago, my husband had a business trip in Miami, so I tagged along for fun. We made reservations for dinner at one of the trendy restaurants in South Beach. We were enjoying our entrees when the host came over and said, “I’m really sorry to do this, but we have a large party of VIPs that need these tables (he gestures to our table and the three others around us). “ My husband was angry, and as he started to protest, I saw Puff Daddy, J Lo and their entourage come towards us. The host steered us to another table with promises of a “free dessert.” I was intrigued to see this glamorous yet ridiculous entourage, but my husband was not at all amused. By the time he finished talking to the manager, we not only had a free meal, but a bottle of very nice champagne sent to our table as well. But not even a nod of acknowledgement from Puffy and his crew.

I am sure Diddy (his new name) was not told that people had to be moved in order to accommodate his party. Venues will jump through hoops to make a star's dinner spectacular, and then people complain that the star is a diva or jerk. Some stars are jerks, but many are not made aware of the whoops restaurants jump through to make it onto a star’s “favorite places” list.
