My company decided to cut down on its travel expenses. Employees were asked to share hotel rooms on trips. With a sense of dread, I flew to Cupertino for a sales meeting. I got assigned to share a room with Sam. A heavy eater, heavy drinker, and as I found out, a heavy snorer. I was up all night. I ended up crunched up on the tiny couch in the living room of our suite, with my headphones on, trying to shut out the racket. He awoke rested and refreshed, while I had to drink black coffee all the next day to keep myself awake during the meetings.
